A wonderful way to ride through beautiful Wiltshire countrysideCaroline Ferris
*** Unfortunately the Tytherton Ride has been cancelled for 2016 due to bad ground conditions***
For the 3rd year in succession the residential sales team in Chippenham will be sponsoring the Tytherton Ride, an annual event, held since 1986 to support local charities. Organised by the community for the community, each year the proceeds of the ride are divided between the Churches and Village halls of Bremhill, Foxham, Tytherton Lucas and East Tytherton, with funds also donated to Christian Malford Primary School and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
The ride is open to riders of all ages and abilities who wish to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside, courtesy of local farmers and land owners, the ride has 3 routes which take horse and rider through countryside they would not normally have access to. For children, following in their parents and grandparents footsteps there is a lead rein route allowing them to take part in this extremely popular event. The two main routes for riders are 6 and 12 miles, with some fantastic views along the way and around 30 jumps, built for the day of various heights.
The event is organised and supported on the day by a team of volunteers, from taking entries in the marquee, being a parking steward, serving refreshments and out on the course. Prior to the day, a committee of dedicated supports work tirelessly to ensure the event is promoted and everything is in place ready for a 10 o’clock start.
In 2015, despite the weather conditions leading up to the event, the ground dried up and the rain stopped (for most of the day), 400 riders took part, the highest number ever and the Ride raised £10,000.
