About the property

Property
This pretty property which is constructed of whitewashed stone under a thatched roof is full of character and retains many period features. It is situated in an elevated position in the middle of a village which is conveniently placed for all the amenities and accessibility of Swindon and the M4. The kitchen and bathroom would benefit from some updating but both are a good size being situated in an extension which was added sometime post war. The dining room has a super inglenook fireplace, ceiling beams and access to understairs storage. A small hallway to the front door links the dining room and sitting room and this is of a generous size with views over the rear garden. It too has a lovely inglenook fireplace. Enclosed stairs with a thumb latch door lead to the first floor where there is an open plan room, leading onto the bedroom

Garden and grounds
The gardens which are mainly laid to lawn run around three sides of the property. There are areas of flower beds and borders as well as an apple tree and soft fruit bushes. There is a thatched area used for storage which is accessible from both the front and rear of the property. A gravel driveway provides parking for several vehicles.

Surrounding area and communications
The rolling downland surrounding Badbury is designated An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty providing many opportunities for walking and riding. M4 junction 15 is close by, offering direct links to Bristol, Bath, Reading and London, whilst Swindon provides a mainline station with trains to Paddington and extensive shopping and recreational facilities. The attractive market town of Marlborough is a few miles south with further shops, restaurants and a twice-weekly street market. The nearby village of Chiseldon has a petrol station, hotel, primary school, pub, tennis courts and village hall. Badbury itself has a public house.

Directions
From Marlborough High Street proceed north in the direction of Swindon on the A346 for approximately 7 miles. Turn right just before the Chiseldon petrol station signposted to Badbury. Continue along the road and turn a sharp left after white railings on the left hand side and continue down the hill a little way before finding the property on the left hand side as indicated by our For Sale board.
