Paddocks Cottage is a charming detached extended period cottage understood to date back to circa 1840 and originally a pair of farmworkers cottages. The original cottage has main walls of hamstone and the later additions are of cavity construction with part cement rendered elevations all under a pitched roof with modern slates.
About 16 years ago It was subject to refurbishment and enlargement to provide a self-contained annexe/wing. Under the current ownership since 2009 an extensive number of improvements have been carried out to include a new oil-fired central heating system, new kitchen, new floor coverings, part damp proofing, new shower rooms, alteration of the garaging and extensive landscaping to the gardens including new terracing, drainage and planting.
The accommodation is very well appointed and enjoys virtually 360 degree panoramic views over the Marshwood Vale. Character features include window seats, exposed beams, inglenook fireplaces (one with a former bread oven) and exposed stone.
The annexe is both self-contained and inter-connecting giving excellent flexibility for use as one larger home, as a granny annexe or long term/holiday lettings etc (subject to any necessary planning consents).
Further features include the superb modern timber double garage with useful office and workshop, together with lovely secluded gardens which are well laid out and again enjoy the stunning long range views.
Paddocks Cottage is approached over its long driveway leading to a turning and parking area and

The beautiful gardens include large expanses of lawn together with a variety of flower and shrub beds interspersed with a number of mature trees and also featuring a large caged vegetable garden and ornamental fish pond. Adjoining the cottage on 3 sides is a large paved terrace with stone retaining walls and a private well.
Paddocks Cottage is situated in the beautiful Marshwood Vale and has stunning far reaching panoramic views over the rolling countryside. It occupies a very peaceful and private location with no immediate neighbours, approximately midway between the hamlets of Broadoak and Shaves Cross. The immediate area is designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are fantastic walking opportunities right on the door step. Broadoak has a village hall and church and Shaves Cross a public house.
It is far from isolated being only 4 miles from Bridport and the beautiful Jurassic Coast. The village of Marshwood is only a few miles away with village shop/post office and a popular primary school. Bridport is a thriving Georgian market town famed for its wide streets and twice weekly market. It offers excellent shopping and business facilities together with Arts Centre, Cinema/Entertainment Venue and Leisure Centre. There is easy access to the coast at West Bay, Eype, Seatown and Charmouth. The well known resort of Lyme Regis and the attractive town of Beaminster are also within easy reach. The harbour resort of West Bay offers facilities for swimming, fishing and boating, together with a cliff top golf course. Main line rail connections to London and the West Country are available at Crewkerne, Axminster and Dorchester
From our South Street office proceed to the Town Hall and turn left into West Street. At the second mini-roundabout turn right onto the B3162 signed Salwayash.
