Enjoying great village, country and sea views - a charming and spacious period cottage with the benefit of private parking, sunny south facing courtyard and a separate large private garden, ideally located in this sought-after Jurassic coastal village. The property is understood to date back to the early 1800's and is not listed, although within the Conservation Area. It has rendered and colour washed elevations under a slate roof. The property has been under the current ownership since 2009 and is well maintained. Modern amenities include gas fired central heating (boiler replaced in 2016), oak flooring, modern fitted kitchen and modern bathroom/shower room fittings.
The good sized accommodation is arranged over 3 floors and enjoys lovely views over Charmouth, the surrounding countryside including Stonebarrow and to the sea. There are 2 large reception rooms, 3 double bedrooms (second floor bedroom with en suite shower room) and a bathroom/shower room which also has a secondary door from the front bedroom. Character features typical of its age and type include high ceilings, window shutters, sash windows, cast-iron/marble open fireplaces, panelled doors, flagstone flooring, cottage doors and exposed floorboards. There are also stained glass features.
Outside there is a delightful courtyard garden with 2 stores (potential to create a downstairs cloakroom and utility), rear parking space and nearby a separate very private, large garden which enjoys sea glimpses and views to Stonebarrow and Catherston.
The sea view photograph was taken from the neighbouring property Foxley House in January 2017.
HOLIDAY LETTING BUSINESS
A very successful holiday letting business is being operated through Dorset Coastal Cottages, generating excellent income. Holidays are available all year with weekly and short breaks.
The cottage is available as a going concern with the benefit of the bookings (fixtures and fittings available by separate negotiation). Alternatively, vacant possession will be available.
The cottage is set slightly back and elevated from the lane with a small front garden which is well screened and features a palm tree. Immediately to the rear is an enclosed south-west facing courtyard with 2 Outside Stores.
Situated very nearby is a large separate garden which is very private comprising a large timber decking area, lawns and a whole range of trees and shrubs including fig and apple plus Summerhouse and Shed. (The garden is subject to a pedestrian right-of-way for two neighbouring properties, although it is understood to be rarely used).
Foxley Green enjoys an elevated and very convenient location within the main street of Charmouth and only a few minutes' walk of the centre. It is also within easy reach of the World Heritage coast, the Blue Flag beach, Dorset Coastal Footpath and open countryside. Charmouth is a delightful and very popular coastal village on the Jurassic coast. It offers excellent amenities including a newsagents, 2 general stores, bakery, butcher, hairdresser, chemist, doctor's surgery, library, post office, hotels, restaurants and inns. There is also a very popular primary school and the village is within the catchment area of the excellent Woodroffe Senior School at Lyme Regis.
The whole area is designated as being One of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the spectacular coast has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Much of the surrounding countryside is either owned or controlled by the National Trust. The thriving market town of Bridport is only about 7 miles to the east, whilst the historic resort of Lyme Regis is only about 3 miles to the west. The town of Axminster is also within easy driving distance with main line rail services to London.
