An adaptable detached house with annexe potential located close to the heart of the village with a good sized garden and a double garage.
Southview is a particularly adaptable detached house which was built in the late 1920s with brick and colourwashed exterior elevations under a principally slated roof, with a latter tiled roof extension. This extension, which was converted from some former outbuildings, forms the potential one bedroom self-contained annexe which has a variety of uses and could be used for extended family, for those who have hobbies or require a studio/home office or potential income generator (subject to any necessary planning consents).
The accommodation is well proportioned and well presented and has been the subject of a recent programme of improvement which has included the installation of an oil fired central heating system. Worthy of particular mention is the oak fitted kitchen, the sitting room which benefits from a multi-fuel burner, and many of the rooms take advantage of a far reaching country outlook.
Southview is located in the attractive conservation village of Chardstock, which in turn is located in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Chardstock has a good range of village amenities which include a Shop/Post Office, recently built Primary School which is now an Academy, Parish Church and popular Public House. It lies approximately 4.5 miles from Axminster which has an excellent variety of shops, secondary school, sports facilities and a main line rail link to London (Waterloo). Chard is located about 4 miles to the north which also has a good range of amenities and the County Town of Taunton is about 20 miles further with a wide range of shopping facilities, cinema, theatre, main line rail link to London (Paddington) and M5 access.
The Jurassic coast at Lyme Bay is approximately 9 miles to the south and is a popular destination for tourists and designated as a World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast. Chardstock lies amongst some of East Devon's most attractive rolling countryside and there are some delightful walks close at hand.
The property is approached from the lane to a large parking area, adjacent to which is the detached large garage building. The garden predominantly lies to the front of Southview and comprises a good sized area of lawn where there is a covered composting area and a garden shed, together with a lower area of garden where there used to be a productive kitchen garden, however this has now been turned over and partly laid to gravel. There is also an area of paved terrace and an ornamental pond.
