A deceptively light and spacious modernised 4 bedroom cottage at the heart of Mylor Bridge with a stunning kitchen, cosy living room, additional study, dining room and substantial landscaped garden.
Mylor Bridge was unknown to me when I moved to Cornwall but I have been delighted with the move here, having received the warmest of welcomes. It is the friendliest of communities with a mix of people of all ages, probably due to the highly thought of school. It has everything, thriving social clubs, pub, shop, post office, butchers, Doctors surgery, dentist and hairdressers plus glorious walking from your front door and active social life surrounding the harbour.
This beautiful period cottage is pleasantly unassuming from the front, but within offers the charm and character of a mid-1800 s home, balanced by fantastic modern additions. The tiled central entrance of this double fronted home profits from brilliant light from the 1st floor landing Velux, a glazed door allows the dining room to benefit also. The formal dining room leads to the magnificent kitchen, the show piece of this property. Cleverly designed, undoubtedly by an enthusiastic cook/baker, this kitchen has a compartmental feel with clear cooking vs. storage/utility areas, yet still flowing as one great space. The Shaker style cabinetry offers a range of wall and floor units with solid wood work tops. Integrated appliances include washing machine, dishwasher and double electric oven with quality finishes of an inset ceramic hob, stainless steel splash back and extractor plus an undermount prep sink. This area is filled with light from the unique circular sky light with a modern LED border and double doors from the sun room.
The living room has a relaxing and comfortable feel, full of character with white washed exposed beams, as throughout the ground floor, and centred around the focal fire place. There is a gorgeous wood burner, slate hearth, chunky granite pillared surround with oak lintel over. Opening to the west facing study with sliding doors to the sun terrace and over looking the rear garden which offers a great sense of tranquillity.
The first-floor accommodation comprises 4 double bedrooms with a master en-suite and a family bathroom, all accessible from the well-lit open landing. The light on offers is beautifully borrowed by the family bathroom via obscured coloured glass blocks, a modern touch to a bathroom with otherwise more traditional design.
The master and second bedroom to the front are generous rooms, both of which have built in storage and the master with a well-appointed shower room en-suite. Both rear bedrooms have the beauty of views of the garden, with bedroom three featuring two double-glazed sash windows, a great modern addition in keeping with a period home.
The generously sized rear garden is beautifully manicured and landscaped with shallow tiered levels to create an array of serene spaces to enjoy the sunny aspect. Immediately accessible from the sun room and study is the patio area. Laid with slate paving, the stylish finished terrace is a wonderful spot to enjoy the afternoon sun. Then stepping up to the first lawned area with a Cornish stone wall border and deep flower beds with mature planting and shrubs. Beyond is another larger level lawned space, again with established borders rich with flowers, shrubs and trees to create a fantastic sense of privacy. To this level is a lovely summer house and also a large garden shed with power. One further level, laid to gravel offers a raised sitting area or alternatively, with double gated access, possible parking for the property.
