A beautifully presented and stylish three double bedroom property in Old Feniton with a garage and charming garden.
2 Chestnut Mews is an attractive attached barn conversion which is tucked away in a small select development of just two other properties. It was converted into a residence, we believe, in the 1970's and has been the subject of a comprehensive and continued programme of enhancement in recent years which has resulted in creating the stylish, modern home we find today. Great care and attention has been given to the fittings and overall finish and it has been decorated in a contemporary fashion with the bold use of colour which works particularly well in a property of this type.
Worthy of particular mention is the main reception room which has a painted stone fireplace with inset multi-fuel burner, and this opens into the kitchen which has been fitted with high gloss blue units designed by Martha Mockford.
To the first floor there are three bedrooms, the principal of which is a beautiful suite with French doors opening onto a balcony and the gardens, and this opens up into a luxury contemporary bath/shower room which has stunning high quality fittings.
2 Chestnut Mews benefits from an integral single garage which also provides a parking space outside. There is a small front garden which comprises an area of lawn interspersed with shrubs and trees.
The majority of the gardens lie to the rear and have been beautifully planted with a great profusion of shrubs. There is an area of lawn with curved stone steps leading down to the house, decked terrace and timber summerhouse. There is also a "working" area of garden with soft fruits, greenhouse and a brick workshop.
2 Chestnut Mews is situated in the picturesque and desirable old village of Feniton, with its 13th-century Church of St Andrew, village hall with post office, bowls club and hairdressers. During the 1960's, Feniton was vastly expanded and the creation of Feniton new village, some ¾ mile away has greatly improved and supported the rural community. This has a variety of facilities such as shops, primary school, a sports and social club, dental surgery and main line rail link to London (Waterloo).
The busy market town of Honiton lies about 4 miles to the west and is particularly well-known as an antique and book centre as well as having most of the usual multiples such as Smiths, Boots, supermarkets and a variety of independent shops, restaurants, schools, sports centre/ swimming pool, golf club and main line rail link to London (Waterloo). Honiton has excellent communication facilities with a dual carriageway to the Cathedral City of Exeter, the county town, some 15.5 miles to the west. Exeter has excellent shopping and sporting facilities, theatres, main line rail link to London (Paddington) and a international airport, together with M5 access.
The Regency coastal resort of Sidmouth lies some 9 miles to the south with its pebble beach (sand at low tide), long esplanade and range of independent shops and boutiques. There are some very good schools in the close vicinity and the property is within the Kings School catchment area and the renowned Colyton Grammar School, one of England's top co-educational state schools, is only 12 miles away.
From Honiton, proceed on the A30 towards Exeter, taking the first turning left at "Iron Bridge" signposted Ottery St. Mary. Proceed under the iron bridge (do not turn left to Ottery St Mary), but continue over the River Otter and turn first right signposted Feniton. Continue into the village, passing the village hall on your left hand side and turn right at the junction. If you park here on the road to the left and then you can walk through the archway on your right, where number 2. will be found on your right hand side.
