Offering character features, improvement potential and with the benefit of off road parking - an attractive period cottage. It is understood to date back to the 1800's of solid stone under a slate roof. The cottage has been under current ownership for the past 30 years and would now benefit from some general updating. There is however oil-fired central heating with a new external boiler (2016) and replacement UPVC sealed unit windows. Character features include window seats, a brick and beam fireplace with wood burner, stripped pine cottage doors, exposed stone and vaulted ceilings to the kitchen and bathroom. There are pleasant distant views to the front and rear over open countryside.
The rear garden is a further feature enjoying a sunny south facing aspect with views over the nearby fields.
The cottage is offered with no forward chain.
On the opposite side of the road there are 2 parking spaces within a private car park, although not allocated.
The rear garden has a terrace, large lawn, good range of shrubs and a stone and slate former outside privy.
The cottage is situated on the western edge of Portesham village within easy reach of the centre and close to open countryside. Portesham is a popular village within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a few miles inland from the World Heritage coast. It is very picturesque with a duck pond and stream running through the centre. It offers above average facilities with a strong community including a thriving primary school, well used modern village hall with numerous clubs and activities, an historic Anglican church, Methodist chapel, public house, farm shop and a modern doctors surgery. There are also regular bus services.
Portesham is well placed within only 8 miles of Dorchester, the County town of Dorset, 7 miles from the coastal resort of Weymouth and 12 miles from the historic town of Bridport with its popular street market. From the village the picturesque coast road continues through the picture book Abbotsbury to West Bay which was featured in the hit TV drama series, Broadchurch. Weymouth and Dorchester both have main line rail services to London Waterloo.
