Orchard Cottage is a delight, a perfect, detached cottage that has been carefully extended and modernised to create a wonderful country home in the most glorious rural location.
Set amongst some of the most beautiful countryside in the Nadder Valley, Sutton Mandeville is a highly sought after rural village, located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A traditional Wiltshire cottage, the property has been lovingly and carefully transformed over the years to provide an individual period home that retains many of the original features, successfully combining them with architect design and modern convenience.
The integrity of the original building has not been compromised and beautiful exposed stone walls and floors remain, as do wonderful mullioned windows along with mellow beams and a superb Inglenook fireplace.
Presented in keeping with the character, the cottage has a calm, relaxed feel that is enhanced by the wood and glass extension that has added a further bedroom, cloakroom and lovely, light filled kitchen to the accommodation.
From the entrance hall, a good size workshop/study at the front of the cottage has amazing views across the valley.
The Sitting Room is a lovely reception space, arranged around the Inglenook fireplace with original bread oven, the fitted woodburner ensures that it is warm and inviting and there is enough space for a dining table and chairs.
Steps lead up to the Kitchen/Breakfast Room, which is well fitted with a range of Shaker style units under wood worksurfaces and is equipped with built in oven with extractor over. A stable door gives access to the garden whilst the bank of windows have lovely views across the gardens to the open countryside beyond.
Guest Bedroom Three is situated on the ground floor and there is a separate Cloakroom.
On the first floor, Bedroom Two is double aspect and has wonderful views and retains an original fireplace. The Master Bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, built-in cupboard and again, enjoys the magnificent outlook.
A drive to the side of the cottage, provides parking for two cars and there is a garden shed for storage and useful log store.
Orchard Cottage is set within beautiful cottage gardens. Very well tended, gently terraced lawns with mellow stone retaining walls, stretch out to the side of the cottage whilst steps lead up to the rear to a further area of garden, backing onto open farmland and a perfect place to sit and enjoy the outstanding views. Mature apple, pear and plum trees provide height and well stocked herbaceous borders give colour throughout the seasons, whilst well trained evergreen and flowering shrubs clothe the cottage walls and create a lovely entrance.
