No 5 The Paddocks has rendered elevations under a tiled roof, and was built in the late 1980s. It has been in the same ownership since new. Most of the fittings are contemporary with when the bungalow was built, so although it has been well looked after, most buyers would budget to carry out some modernisation. There is a useful and good sized enclosed entrance lobby, which opens to an L configuration central hallway. The Sitting Room has a fireplace with a wood burning stove, and an opening in to the Dining Room with a serving hatch to the Kitchen. The Kitchen has the original cupboard and drawer units and a door opening to the side. There are two double bedrooms and a single bedroom, served by a bathroom which includes and over-bath shower.
Secondary double-glazing has been installed, and the original central heating has been superseded by individual electric radiators in most rooms. The Hallway and principal reception areas have egg and dart moulded cornicing.
There is parking for several cars on the driveway, which gives access to larger than normal double garage, with folding doors and height sufficient to take some motorhomes.
The front garden is open plan. Most of the garden is at the rear and west-facing. There is a large paved terrace which gives on to a main area of lawn, shaped by colourful borders. There is a summer house, and an enclosed storage area to the side of the garage.
The property is peacefully located in the quiet cul-de-sac of The Paddocks. It backs on to Grange Park, and as a consequence the environment is enhanced by the presence of a number of mature trees, giving a lightly wooded feel and setting.
Thornford is a popular village set close to the Somerset/Dorset border, more or less equidistant between the Abbey town of Sherborne and the regional centre of Yeovil. It has a Post Office Stores, pub and village school, all of which lie within walking distance of the property. The neighbouring village of Yetminster has a railway station on the Bath/Weymouth route. Thornford is set in the north-western corner of the Blackmore Vale with the central chalk downlands of Dorset and the Dorset coast within easy reach by car. The A303 can be joined to the north giving access through to London and the Home Counties along the A303/M3/M25 route.
