Greywethers is a substantial detached property built by the Pembroke Estate and constructed of brick under a slate roof. It is believed to date from the mid nineteenth century. Listed Grade II, it has many features typical of its era, including cornicing and fireplaces. The rooms are well proportioned with high ceilings and many are dual aspect. The kitchen benefits from an Aga, LPG hob and electric oven. Greywethers is a light and elegant house and sits behind a stone wall set back from the village road with pillars and a gate leading to the front garden. The house sits within an area of outstanding natural beauty and enjoys lovely views across the Pewsey Vale with its famous white horses.
Garden and grounds
The vehicular access is to the side and there is a gravelled parking area affording access to the back door. The gardens, which mainly lie to the side and rear of the house, are very attractive and well maintained as well as partly walled. There is a rear terrace leading to a formal garden with a lawned area, flanked by yew hedging. To the west of the house is a larger area of open lawn and some specimen trees including a white flowering cherry and horse chestnut. There is also a magnolia to the north of the property and the garden has well stocked flower and shrub borders.
