A particularly handsome 1920's house with spacious and well-proportioned accommodation set in simply stunning gardens and grounds of about 0.7 acre. Within a short walk of the town centre and sea front.
Hill Grove is a handsome detached residence which was built in the late 1920's and has a particularly attractive front façade with its bays, brick detailing and arched uPVC double glazed windows. The property has been enlarged over the years which has resulted in the generously proportioned family home we find today with elegant accommodation which is very adaptable in its layout.
Gardens & Grounds
Undoubtedly one of Hill Grove's main features is its simply stunning setting and the gardens have been beautifully designed and very well thought out in order to create year round colour and a great deal of interest. They have been planted with a multitude of specimen trees and shrubs, far too numerous to list, however real gems include a Golden Dawn Redwood, Golden Catalpa, Tulip Tree and a Paulownia Coreana.
To the front of the house is a level lawn which rises to a further lawn which sweeps around the side of the house to a kitchen garden, soft fruit cage, fruit trees and implement store.
Hill Grove is approached from Marlpit Lane through impressive wrought iron gates with a long driveway which leads past the house to rear courtyards. Around the courtyards sit several buildings which include a brick tandem garage, block built workshop, timber potting shed, timber store and across the lawn, a garden machinery store.
Hill Grove is conveniently located on the Western side of the popular coastal town of Seaton, within a short walk of the beach and local recreational and shopping facilities. Seaton sits on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast amongst some of East Devon's most glorious countryside. There is a small harbour at the mouth of the River Axe, with the estuary running through two nature reserves and giving unrivalled views of this dramatic stretch of coastline. Seaton has an 'outstanding' primary school and the renowned Colyton Grammar School, one of the country's top mixed state schools, is situated about 2 miles away.
The market town of Axminster is approximately 7.5 miles to the north-east and has a mainline rail link to London Waterloo. The City of Exeter lies about 26 miles to the west and has excellent shopping and sporting facilities, theatres, art centre, mainline rail express link to London Paddington, international airport and M5 access.
From the A3052 coast road just north of Seaton turn right (if you are proceeding eastwards) by the Esso garage and former old white water tower. Carry on down Seaton Down Hill and as you reach a left hand bend, branch off right into Marlpit lane. Proceed straight on (slightly left) down the lane, passing the turning to Durley Road on your right and the driveway to Hill Grove (number 18) will be found after about 100 yards on your left hand side.
