LOCATION
Leavenheath (originally Leowine’s Heath) is a civil parish made up of three small hamlets. The village is situated to the north of the Essex/Suffolk border, midway between the market towns of Sudbury and Colchester. It is adjacent to the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is in easy reach of Constable Country. The busy village hall serves as a hub for many community activities each week including a digital cinema, W.I., badminton, pilates/yoga, aerobics, table tennis, carpet bowls, karate, children's dance class, baby & toddler, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and 'Ladybirds' Pre-school.

Four wonderful Suffolk County Council supported 'Circular Walks' begin and all link from the village - Kingsland Walk, Wildlife Walk, Lanes & Lakes Walk and Orchard Walk and take in all the splendour of the immediate surrounding countryside, wildlife reserves, established orchards, ancient lanes and woodlands bursting with wild garlic and bluebells. The surrounding Stour Valley countryside is absolutely delightful - gently sloping, quintessential rural Suffolk. Country walks and numerous country pursuits are literally on your doorstep.

The village of Assington (2 miles) features a super farm-shop and tea rooms. Stoke By Nayland Hotel Golf and Spa (2 miles) is home to a golf course with two 18 hole courses and offers discounts to residents of Leavenheath.

Sudbury (8 Miles) provides excellent recreational facilities with many clubs and associations, including rugby, football, cricket, tennis, bowls and rowing. There is a also a theatre and a modern swimming pool/leisure complex. The town's railway station provides a branch link to the main London and Colchester line, with fast services on to Liverpool Street and there are good bus and road connections to the surrounding area, towards the A12, M11 and Stansted Airport.

Two medical practices serve Leavenheath; Nayland Surgery and Boxford Surgery. The nearest accident and emergency facility is at the Colchester General Hospital situated at Mile End, approximately six miles south of Leavenheath.

There is a regular bus service throughout every week day, passing through the village connecting Colchester and Sudbury.
