An enchanting detached period cottage, which has recently and extensively been refurbished, but still boasts a wealth of charm and character. Old Star Cottage dates back, we believe, to 1842 and is quintessential of its age with mellow blue lias stone elevations beneath a pitched tiled roof.
The accommodation comprises:
Entrance hallway leading through to a sitting room with open fireplace, snug with wood burner, study with window to the rear elevation, kitchen which has been beautifully fitted and with integrated appliances, breakfast room, utility and ground floor shower room, as well as the ground floor bedroom/family room. On the first floor there two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The property has been extensively improved to include a new boiler and heating system, new triple glazed windows and a new private drainage system.
Of particular note are the stunning gardens that surround the house, which extend to approximately 1.5 acres. The gardens include a number of mature specimen trees and a pond, which has been created from part of the former Taunton to Chard canal. There are also a number of very useful outbuildings and a summerhouse overlooking the pond.
Old Star Cottage enjoys a delightful position on the edge of this pretty village. Beercrocombe is a particularly active village with a thriving community and a parish church. Its sister village of Curry Mallet, which is approximately 1 mile distant, has a primary school, public house and post office/stores. Beercrocombe is readily accessible to Taunton and the M5 Motorway interchange. Taunton, the county town, provides a comprehensive range of recreational, scholastic and shopping facilities as well as a main line railway station.
From the Taunton exit of the M5 junction 25, proceed east towards Ilminster on the A358. Continue straight on at the Thornefalcon traffic lights and just after descending the hill, turn left signposted to Hatch Beauchamp. On entering the village you will see the village inn immediately in front of you. Turn left at this junction and proceed towards Beercrocombe and Curry Mallet. Continue along this road for approximately 1 mile and take the turning right signposted to Beecrocombe. Follow this road and Old Star Cottage can be found after a short distance on the left hand side.
