Buttles Lodge is a most attractive Grade II listed home with additional Orangery and outbuilding, set within just under 6 acres of well-manicured and tended woodland on the outskirts of the most popular village location of Hatch Beauchamp.

Dating back to the early 1830’s Buttles lodge is a most striking Palladian style building believed to have been modelled on a temple in the grounds of Stowe House, Buckinghamshire. Built by Lady Anna Gore Langton, daughter of the 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos the building was formally an exit lodge serving the drive way towards Hatch Park and today forms part of this beautiful home.

Built of Bath stone under a slate roof, the property exudes character and charm at every turn. The front elevation faces towards the former driveway and looks across the beautifully tended and manicured gardens and grounds.
Internally, Buttles Lodge has accommodation arranged over two floors and is presented to high standard throughout. On the ground floor, there is a spacious sitting room which looks out across the gardens with an attractive fireplace forming a focal point on one wall.

Moving onto the kitchen, which again enjoys a pleasant aspect across the grounds and comprises of a range of shaker style eye and base level units under a worktop with inset sink and drainer and space and connection for a cooker and domestic appliance.

The dining room is a particular feature of the property, an recent addition by the current owners and built in a contemporary style, quite in juxtaposition with the main residence. With walls of glass, the dining room offers a superb view across the gardens and grounds and is a fine room to enjoy.

Rising to the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms, the master of which has attractive wooden floorboards and fireplace and an elevated view across the gardens. The second bedroom is a well-proportioned double bedroom with a fitted wardrobe. Completing the accommodation is a large family bathroom, complete with panel enclosed bath, separate shower cubicle, bidet and W/C, as well as another W/C on the ground floor.

The Orangery is set away from the main residence and was built by the current owners to provide more usable space day to day for when guests come to visit. An attractive building with a pillared façade, the Orangery consists of a large glazed reception room overlooking the grounds along with a separate kitchenette and showroom, along with stairs which lead to a study or office space on the first floor.

GARDENS AND GROUNDS

The gardens and grounds are a delight for people of a green fingered nature and an absolute joy to behold. Forming Buttles Plantation, they extend to approx. 5.93 acres in total. The mature woodland areas and gardens form a simply stunning setting with which to while away the summer months.

Set behind iron railings from the road, the property is accessed by as semi circular driveway which provides ample parking and leads past the property to the garage and outbuilding. This useful building is open to one aspect and would provide ample space with which to park numerous vehicles or machinery, as well as having a large workshop space to the rear. There is also a W/C.

As well as open lawned areas, the woodland rambles past two ponds and has a wide range of beautiful and mature specimen trees, including Sequoias, Cedar, Oak, Ash and Elm but to name a few. The current owners has undergone an extensive tree planting schedule over their tenure.
