The village is located within the beautiful Bride Valley just to the south A35 between Bridport and Dorchester. The village for most part is made up of mellow stone cottages and houses for which the area is well known. There is the church, popular primary school and public house together with a village hall. It is a thriving community village. The immediate area is designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the World Heritage Coastline is only 3 miles at Burton Bradstock and West Bexington. The historic market town of Bridport is about 6 miles to the west which provide excellent facilities and the harbour resort of West Bay has an 18 hole golf course. The County town of Dorchester is about 9 miles to the east with main line rail services to London and the West Country.
From Bridport join the A35 east towards Dorchester. After about 5 miles turn right to Litton Cheney and descend Whiteway Hill into the village. At the T junction turn left and after 1/0th of a mile or so turn right into Hines Mead Lane. Rainbow Cottage is the first property on the right hand side.
